Wintersun,
'08.
The cruising
component of the event was reasonably well managed, though it again
turned into a parking lot on Saturday night.
The route took the cars up the steep hill behind the Greenmount Surf
Life Savers Club, a fact that had organisers a little concerned
about burnt out clutches, and excessive wheel spin. The bigger
cars, and Wintersun seems to be a Cadillac magnet, had some trouble
doing the 5 point turns that were necessary at the far end of the
route, and that fact impacted on the run considerably.
Overseas attendants appeared to love the weather, which was Ok most
of the time, but the rain poured down on the Sunday afternoon.

Allegedly bought on
e-bay recently, this pale green air-bagged coupe attracted crowds
wherever it was parked.

Wayne Barber's '65 Corvette coupe came with the
rare 396 option, and is therefore priced accordingly.

This was a highboy when we last saw it, and to
some, it looks even better now.

Gary Schultz' injected SBC powered '34 3 window
was on hand again, showing off the real FI engine through the sides
of the hood.

Someone lucky punter purchased Peter Paynter's '28
coupe stocker for $17k. Lucky punt.

Norm Hardinge cruised as often as possible,
impressing the locals with both his beard & his blown hemi powered
32 Deluxe coupe.

A '33 Ford pickup,
wearing both the host state's colours (maroon) and a Ford engine,
must be considered patriotic.

These are a popular 'glass repro body - the '34
3-window coupe can be a hiboy, as seen here, or fully fendered.

The righteous roadster had all the nice bits,
including faux fuel injection, but what better to cap it off - a
friendly pin stripe artist was at work.

Stock bodied T coupes almost always look great -
this one does.

There is that hard to photograph chromatic yellow
paint again. The '35 coupe would look great in any shade.

Rod Hadfield might not have a beard, as does his
pal Norm, but his latest creation is at once unique and familiar, as
he continues to build some of the most interesting cars in the
rodding world.

Bright red, and well shaded, this is another
classy Ford-in-a-Ford commercial.

Everyone loves Model A Tudors, whether they are
chopped 3" or 5", so this flamin' red example should be really
popular.

One of the many T buckets that had the look,
this Redback roadster had it in spades.

The cheese grater deuce roadster belongs to
Andrea Thompson.

Phil Dean, the pickup bed man, owned this
restored deuce roadster for decades, until he recently sold it.

Its a Rod & Kustom event, so we'll finish with a
hacked up Hudson, a car that is smooth in more ways than one.
