Wintersun,
'07.
The weather was almost terrible for
the last weekend of the gala event, in that the Friday and Saturday
were unseasonably cold - for Coolangatta. Southern visitors would
have felt right at home, but at least the rain stayed away, in the
main. Registration numbers were up, and despite the weather, I am
sure the pedestrian numbers would have been up also.
Various new elements and venues were added to the list of events
that kept a large number of visitors busy for the week. New
accommodation towers will be available next year, which will help
with prices & availability of somewhere to hang your hat.

A '30 Model A roadster, with a '32 grille, detailed SBC with early
M\T valve covers, this satin black looks both nostalgic and up to
date.

This all Australian '39 Chevy sloper is the perfect way to celebrate
Australia Day. Which is in January.

Chubb (he has lost a lot of weight, so he may need a new nickname)
Townsend had his street & strip rat powered '34 roadster there.

The most chrome ever fitted to a new vehicle makes
Carl
& Grant Amor's '58 Buick
stand out in a crowd.

Young
Ben Love's '30 coupe and the T-bucket provide a contrast in engine
styles.

Ian Mill's Gold Coast Rodders based black A forms the front piece of
a brace of '28 tourers.

Phil Woodbridge brought this '30 coupe in from the US some years
back, and Peter Barrett snapped it up.

Ex Dennis 'Twiggy' Twigg '34 Chev two door sedan is now owned by
Peter Gaigi. |

Even as the sun sets Friday, new entrants turned up and took up
their positions in Griffith Street.

Stock bodied, with high gloss, this former working man's hack is now
a smooth '30 closed cab Model A.

Corey Parker, a professional footballer with the Brisbane Broncos,
had his orange '37 Plymouth parked right by his Dad's chopped jail
bar pickup.

This sweet '65 vette had a dynamite small block, and a sensible
5-speed box.

This '67 Camaro has the rare 396 big block option, with the even
rarer Paxton supercharger after-market option.

There were lots of Willys lovers at Wintersun, though there were but
a couple of Willys coupes. Next year.

This '31 Victoria looks better every time we see it

In 1936, Ford made some pretty body styles, and the roadster was
among the nicest. Kevin Britten's '36 is among the nicest of those. |

Happiness is a loaded '65 Chevrolet Corvette convertible.

Freshly minted, this early A roadster pickup was well finished
throughout.

Most 60's era cars stay away from the Salt Flat style of mag wheel.
but they look great on this mint '67 Camaro.

The style has been set in folklore now, that is, a '28 hiboy Tudor
on deuce rails, with a '34 grille. Simon Clow's bright blue and
chrome rendition hits the spot.

Brian Podgorski brought his sweet '32 3 window coupe down from
Brisbane's Northern Districts hot rod club for the week of rods 'n
roll.

New South Wales provided the other half of the Willys team.

Kieran Love built this trad looking deuce 5 window originally - I'm
not sure of the current owner's name.

John Thorley debuted his Warren Wilkie built '28 coupe, and the jet
black, super straight body drew some admiring glances.
